Badger season off to great start

September 1, 2013 |
The last day of August marked opening day for
the Badger sports season, and for the football
and soccer teams, it was a most auspicious
start.
In boys soccer, Steffen Robles led the Badgers
with a hat trick in a 9-0 shut out against
Orofino, and the girls won their match against
the Maniacs, 3-0.
Girls coach Erin Delude couldn't be more proud.
"We graduated 10 and the girls know they have
big shoes to fill," she said. "I am proud of how
they are working as a team and supporting each
other."
After all the brouhaha over naming this year's
Badger football coach, Ed DePriest, backed by
most of those with whom he competed for the
slot, opened the season with 50-plus players on
the roster, and they went out Saturday night and
crushed the Libby Loggers, 35-14.
On the JV side, the score was even more
impressive, with the Badgers winning a shutout
in front of the home crowd, 32-0.
The Badgers are on the road Friday night against
Newport. |
