The Bonners Ferry High School volleyball teams
will take on Timberlake High School Tuesday,
October 1, in the nationwide "Dig Pink" event to
raise funds to raise awareness of breast cancer
and to support those who face the disease.
C-Squad and JV games begin at 5 p.m., with the
varsity game to follow in the Bonners Ferry High
School gym.
This fall, thousands of teams from around the
country will be participating in The Side-Out
Foundation’s Dig Pink® National Breast Cancer
Awareness Rally. Middle school, high school and
college teams will promote breast health
education in the community as well as raise
funds to further research.
Dig Pink events give spectators the opportunity
to become involved by making donations to the
cause and by pinking out the events (i.e.
donning pink to show their support). Admission
will be $5, with all proceeds going towards The
Side-Out Foundation. There are few shirts left
and can be bought at the door.
Before and during the volleyball match there
will be a silent auction with bidding closed
after the second set of the match. Bake goods,
canned goods, quilts, crafts, services, are just
a few of the many items for bid.
The proceeds from all donations will benefit the
Side-Out Foundation, a national 501(c)(3)
non-profit organization located in the
Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
For more information about the event, please
contact Janis Tucker at Bonners Ferry High
School: (208) 276-3149 ext. 118 or e-mail:
janis.tucker@mail.bcsd101.com. We are still
accepting donations for the silent auction.
This is the Badger volleyball teams’ fourth year
of involvement with Dig Pink. Please help
support the Lady Badgers and all those that
battle cancer.
The Side-Out Foundation is a 501(c)(3)
non-profit organization that was established in
2004 to unite volleyball players and coaches and
to have them work toward the common goal of
making a significant and identifiable difference
in the lives of breast cancer patients and their
families.
The organization's goal is to advance clinical
trials, increase compassionate support services
and educate communities. Side-Out supports teams
nationwide in their volleyball tournaments,
clinics and other fundraising efforts. The
foundation offers practical support for
fundraising in addition to educational material
for participants in order to help them become
effective advocates for breast cancer. |
