Badger runners faced a tough course last Friday
when they took on the hills of Moscow at the Bob
Weisel Invite. The meet was unique in that races
were divided by class and boys and girls ran
together. This gave younger runners an
opportunity to shine against their own age group
and veterans a chance to square off against
other experienced runners.
In the freshman race, Jill Alexander and Eric
Ellis stood out with exemplary races. Alexander
finished in 11th in the girls division of the
race with a time of 26:42. Ellis finished in
eight overall and seventh among the boys. Alex
Urbaniak finished in 33:25.
For the sophomores Nolan Stidham and Louis
Balcaen ran excellent races for the boys, coming
in at 22:11 and 22:26 respectively. Stidham
finished in 10th place overall.
For the girls, Hannah Lysnse posted a 28:28 and
Amanda Bauer ran in at 30:24. Both were in the
top ten for the girls. Cheyanne White also ran
in 32:51 and Klarity Rice finished in 33:47.
In the junior race Jacob Perkins finished in
19:35 for a third place finish against tough
Lake City competition. Teammate Tucker Cavender
also ran in 22:43. Girls Captain Jordan Merz
overcame a difficult start to finish in 27:56 on
the very hilly course.
The class of 2014 put on a show, with Badger
senior Luke Reoch finishing in 19:01 for a
second place finish. Teammate Collin Cossairt
ran in 20:08 and Brad Thompson finished in
23:43.
The Badgers will race this weekend at the
Sandpoint Invite on Saturday morning. Races
begin at 9 a.m. at Travers Park.
IML Cross Country Districts will be at Mirror
Lake Golf Course in Bonners Ferry on October 24.
Races start at 2 p.m. for districts. |
