The Bonners Ferry Badger Volleyball team earned
their way to the Idaho State Tournament by
winning both the regular season Intermountain
League championship and first place in the
District Tournament. Traveling to Twin Falls, they played their first match against Sugar-Salem on Friday, Octobe 31. Although the first two games of that match went to Sugar-Salem, the Badgers battled back, winning Game three in a close contest. The fourth game went right down to the wire, with Sugar-Salem finally hitting 25 points, and winning the match against the Badgers: Game 1: Sugar-Salem 25, Bonners Ferry 17 Game 2: Sugar-Salem 25, Bonners Ferry 17 Game 3: Bonners Ferry 25, Sugar-Salem 23 Game 4: Sugar-Salem 25, Bonners Ferry 22 Their next opponent that same day was Parma, who the Badgers defeated in three straight games: Game 1: Bonners Ferry 25, Parma 17 Game 2: Bonners Ferry 25, Parma 22 Game 3: Bonners Ferry 25, Parma 20 Their next challenge was Kimberly. Kimberly, playing with a big front line and employing lots of kills and blocks, handed Bonners Ferry their second loss in the Tournament, Bonners Ferry losing in three games: 25-17, 25-18, and 25-23. That loss ended the Badgers tournament run in the double elimination system of the tournament. Overall, great season for these young women who for the first time in many years qualified to make a trip to the Idaho State Tournament, and who played many exciting volleyball matches during the season this year. |
