Kootenai Refuge sponsors evening
Owl Calling event
February 25, 2015
from the Friends of Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge

We look forward to seeing you at the Refuge for the Friday, February 27 Owl Program. Owl calling starts at 5:45 p.m.

We'll all learn more about these interesting creatures from Beth Paragamian.  Then, the owl calling will be outside in the Myrtle Creek Trail parking lot across from Refuge headquarters. Remember to dress for the weather. It might be handy to have a small flashlight or headlamp to light your path back across Westside Road to the Education barn. The program begins about 6:30 p.m.

Two interesting and entertaining sources of information about owls have recently become available.

The January-February issue of Audubon Magazine has a wonderful article about owls. The link is http://www.audubon.org/magazine/january-february-2015/whos-who. The photos in this article are fantastic.

Recently the Nature program on PBS aired a program about owl superpowers. The full episode is available online for a short time. The link is http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/owl-power-full-episode/11636/

The slow motion video in this program showing the mechanics and physics of owl's virtually silent flight is incredible.

Hope to see you at our own Boundary County owl event on Friday!
