Need more proof the state 3A baseball game was
epic? |
May 24, 2017 |
The Idaho State 3A Baseball Championship between
reigning champion Fruitland and first-time
contending Bonners Ferry was something special,
but just how special became a little clearer on
Tuesday when IdahoSports.com released the
viewership numbers from this year's live game
broadcasts.
In all, 132,420 viewers logged on to
http://idahosports.com
to watch 2017 state championship baseball, a
45-percent increase over 2016. And you would
think that the big schools would naturally enjoy
the highest ratings ... but nuh uh.
Not this year.
Somehow, as the two teams were scoring run after
run in a game that lasted more than 3 1/2 hours,
word got out that an epic battle was underway
between the Grizzlies and the Badgers, and
10,590 computers were logged in to the free
online game broadcast, making it the most
watched game since IdahoSports began in 1997.
The next highest watched game this year was in
the 5A Division between Lewiston and Capitol,
which had 6,453 log in.
On average, the webcasts produce 2,597 live
viewers per game. |
