Some peace and quiet
before …

”One
of the penalties of not participating in
politics is that you will be governed by your
inferiors.”
-Plato-
When you get to be my age, you sit around
counting your blessings and pull up your socks
in order to think about positive things. So, no
socks to pull up because it is just too hot to
wear them, so I’ll just snap my suspenders a few
times to get into that “sly grin” mode.
My bride and I were sitting out back on our deck
the other day and were witness to a large doe
sauntering into our yard with two spotted fawns
in tow. She walked them over to the shade of
some of our quaking aspens and parked them there
with a nose punch to add emphasis to her wanting
them to remain curled up and quiet. She then
wandered off to forage on her own or to check
out the young spikes that have been passing
through lately.
We consider ourselves truly blessed to witness
this act of nature and attribute the doe’s
action to the peace and quiet we enjoy in our
area.
Here is another blessing we are proud of….
While eating lunch in a town south of here the
other day, my bride commented on how terrible
the water tasted … “can’t wait to get a glass of
our Three Mile Water again as a slice of lemon
does not cover up the foul taste of this water.”
Just another reason we value living here in our
beloved Boundary County.
New business in town started off with a bang and
a standing room only crowed last Friday night.
“Kootenai River Brewing Company” adds credence
to the old adage “location, location, location."
This one and only micro brewery in our town has
an eye-appealing façade and its location grabs
your eye coming across the bridge. It is sure to
capture the out-of-towners. (You better bring a
lot of coins with you, as this is a pretty
pricey bistro.)
O.K. … we now have us a micro brewery, so when
do we get a Sushi Bar?
Time to get the family all primed up for the
fair, good people. Save me an elephant ear.
Investors, sharpen your pencils, as the Fed’s
recent announcement that prime rate will remain
unchanged for the next two years means some
“creative” investing is going be going on to
keep cash flowing to and from the market.
Does not take a masters degree to realize us
small savers will continue to see only token
interest on our savings until mid to late 2013
when the Fed “may” raise the prime rate.
In the interim, we’ll just have to be content
being entertained by the tidal wave of souls
jumping on the GOP presidential bus.
What’s next for the Democratic Central
Committee? Are you going to allow our Prez to
also sacrifice a goat for next year's Ramadan?
Badgers are out there with our new coach getting
ready for fall … GO BLUE!
Enjoy what is left of summer, as there is still
time to get in some Moyie River tubing.
