Museum celebrates donation of Kootenai Tribe artifacts and
photographs: A unique and noteworthy collection of
Kootenai Tribe art, artifacts, and photographs was unveiled for
public display at the Boundary County Museum last Saturday,
February 21. |
Runaway Symphony a hit in Bonners Ferry performance:
Last Saturday night, a large crowd of a few hundred people
gathered at the auditorium of Bonners Ferry High School to enjoy
an evening concert by the Moscow, Idaho-based band Runaway
Symphony. |
Distinguished Young Women gearing up for swash-buckling pirate
fun: Nine of Bonners Ferry’s most outstanding
junior girls will be given an opportunity to win scholarship
money and prizes in this year’s annual Bonners Ferry

Public meets two applicants for School Superintendent position:
The search is well underway for a new Superintendent for
Boundary County School District 101. Current Superintendent
Richard Conley announced his retirement a couple of months ago. |

Fish and
Game lists statewide job openings: Idaho Fish and
Game periodically lists employment openings with their
department. In their most recent listing, three summer jobs are
included that are located in areas in or near Boundary County. |
Department of
Labor sponsors job fair at Post Falls office:
Twenty-one employers will be participating in the February 11
hiring event sponsored by the Idaho Department of Labor at its
Kootenai County office in Post Falls. |
Keough
expresses concern over aging Idaho bridges: Idaho
Senator Shawn Keough has issued a press release regarding
Idaho's transportation network, which includes, among other
things, concerns about funding to maintain the system and in
particular expresses concern about bridges in our state. |

Webster has reported the 16 year old as a runaway through the
Boundary County Sheriffs Office. |
Runaway
Symphony band to perform locally: Runaway Symphony
is coming to Bonners Ferry. The Moscow-based independent
folk/rock band and writers of the popular song Bonners Ferry
will be performing Saturday, February 21 at 7:00 p.m. at the
Becker Auditorium in Bonners Ferry High School. |

South Hill highway construction plans at open house meeting:
A lengthy section of the highway on Bonners Ferry's South Hill
will be updated with a left turn lane, sidewalks, shoulders, new
drainage systems, and more. Currently, the Idaho Transportation
Department is looking at two different options to update the
road. |

Service seeks comments on local area Deer Creek project:
he Bonners Ferry Ranger District of the Idaho Panhandle National
Forests (IPNF) is seeking public comments on a forest management
project being developed in collaboration with the Kootenai
Valley Resource Initiative as part of the Collaborative Forest
Landscape Restoration Program. |

ITD
imposes speed restrictions on Highway 95 north of Mt. Hall
junction: The Idaho Department of Transportation
will begin break-up speed restrictions Wednesday morning,
February 4, for drivers on a 16.5-mile section of U.S. 95
through Boundary County, close to the Canadian border. |

All the enthusiasm and excitement around the Super Bowl inspired

Basketball's year-end District Tournament is where teams earn
the right to go to the Idaho State Basketball Tournament. In
this year' Tournament, the BFHS Girls' Varsity team opened
District competition with a game against Priest River. |
Badger boys
almost knock off #1 ranked Kellogg: The Bonners
Ferry Badger Boys' Varsity basketball team took Idaho's #1
ranked Kellogg Wildcats right down to the closing seconds before
losing the game by 3 points, 46-43. |
Badger
Boys' and Girls' Varsity get overtime wins: The
Bonners Ferry Badger Boys' basketball team won a hard-fought
match against the 5A Coeur d'Alene Junior Varsity squad last
night in Coeur d'Alene. |
Fish
and Game to present update program on Lake Pend Oreille Fishery:
For Idaho Panhandle anglers and biologists alike, one of the
greatest highlights of 2014 was watching scores of anglers enjoy
great Kokanee fishing on Lake Pend Oreille. |

We pay
less tax for schools now than 10 years ago: There
are many reasons to support the school Maintenance and
Operations levy that is coming up for a vote on March 10. The
most important is that the levy is an absolute necessity for our
schools. |
The school
levy, taxes, and funding education: I wish there
were another way, besides levies, to pay for our public
education in Boundary County. I’ve only lived in Idaho for 1 ½
years. Levies for school funding are new to me. |
We may
not always agree with School District spending:
There are so many reasons that anyone could come up with to not
support the school Maintenance and Operations Levy. |
Appreciates her day spent at Boundary County Middle School:
I recently accepted an invitation to attend a day with my sixth
grader at Boundary County Middle School. Middle school ... I had
flashbacks of my own tumultuous, transition from elementary to
high school. |
Keough's
concern for bridges is something new: Regarding
your recent article: "Keough expresses concern over aging Idaho
bridges." Well, well. Senator Keough is finally looking to do
something for her constituents in North Idaho. |
Recommends upcoming levy: It’s about the kids, not
us! Idaho is a great place to raise children, but Idaho does not
fund the educational system as it should. |
Idaho Fish
and Game tells advocacy groups to stop crying "Wolf":
It's important for state agencies to understand and respect
differing points of view. But when a few advocacy groups try to
grab headlines by skewing Idaho Fish and Game scientific wolf
monitoring data in ways that simply aren't true, it's also
important to set the record straight. |
